is the main protagonist of the Metal Gear game saga. Solid Snake is one of the three clones of the legendary soldier Big Boss, the result of the Les Enfants Terribles project. His other two brothers are Solidus Snake and Liquid Snake.
Snake is a young soldier who is recruited by the FOXHOUND special forces commander, Big Boss. He is sent on a secret mission to dismantle an "Armored Fortress" that threatens to rule the world, known as Outer Heaven. Snake defeats several former members of the elite Fox Hound unit and manages to get to the head of the fortress, where Snake discovers that Big Boss himself is the commander of Outer Heaven and that he was the one planning everything to conquer the world's economy and politics, but tells him that he never thought he would get this far. Big Boss activates Outer Heaven's self-destruct sequence; Snake escapes in the midst of total destruction after fighting Big Boss. It is later discovered that he actually faced Venom Snake or "The Ghost of Big Boss"
