Deepthroat was the alias used by Gray Fox in Metal Gear Solid, to communicate with Solid Snake over the Codec and warn him about the enemies, he informed him about the ambush Vulcan Raven was about to make on a tank. Finally, Snake learns that Deepthroat is actually Gray Fox.
This occurs in the final battle with Liquid in Metal Gear REX, in which Gray Fox sacrifices himself to help Snake, his final line being: Snake hears: "We are not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing I knew how to do, but at least I always fought for what I believed in!
